LYRICS

AIN’T GONNA QUIT

In another place at another time, it would have been okay, it would have been just fine.

But as I sit here all alone, taking it all in, I wonder if it’s happening again.

Some people say I’m a fool some people say I’m just strange, I should behave myself I should act my age.

But as long as I am here, I’ll make the best of it, and no matter what I ain’t gonna quit

Ain’t gonna quit, Ain’t gonna quit, get used to it.

Ain’t what my father said, it’s what my father did, he was a serious man, didn’t often kid

& what he had showed me most is that you got to have some grit, & no matter what you just can’t quit

Ain’t gonna quit, Ain’t gonna quit, get used to it.

When they try their best to bring you down, you’ve got to get back up, you’ve got to stick around

And when all is said and done, you will be better for it, and so no matter what you just can’t quit.

Ain’t gonna quit, Ain’t gonna quit, get used to it.

COUNTRY MUSIC

Freight train rolling in the middle of the night.  Just keep on driving til you see the light.

Got to pinch myself just keep my eyes on the road.

Driving through the desert for two whole days.  My skin’s melting off from the red hot rays.

So when we get there make sure that the beer is cold.

We’ve been a thousand miles, got a thousand more.  We drive this highway like we’ve been here before.

So sit back, relax and enjoy the show and put that Country Music on the radio.

From the Red Rock Caverns to the Whisky River.  Just hoping this little car delivers.

Don’t you know I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

Up and down and all around from New Mexico to a Texas town.

Half the time I wonder if we’re just lost.

We’ve been a thousand miles, got a thousand more.  We drive this highway like we’ve been here before.

So sit back, relax and enjoy the show and put that Country Music on the radio.

We’ve got twanging guitars and dancing girls feels like we’re half way around the world.

So just tell me which way to go and put that Country Music on the radio.

A fiddle player, steel guitar, singing about some honky tonk bar.

I’ll turn it up if you just say so, Country Music on the radio.

Now the rain tumbles down and the sun comes out.  This dirty city will make you scream and shout.

And we’re just lucky to get out of there alive.

Climbing up the mountain makes the engine squeal buy the view from here is so unreal.

Wonder what’s in store for us on the other side.

Country Music, Country Music, playing on the radio.

DID I MAKE YOU PROUD

I’ve been good, I’ve been bad, but I played the cards I had.

Did I make you proud, Did I make you proud?

Things went right, things went wrong, but I kept moving along.

Did I make you proud, Did I make you proud?

Looked up in the sky and I said it out loud, I asked the question, cause I had my doubts.

There was nothing that I wanted more, but I knew I’d never know for sure, if I made your proud.

I’ve been up, I’ve been down, with my feet on the ground.

Did I make you proud, Did I make you proud?

Never stood out above the rest, but I always tried my best.

Did I make you proud, Did I make you proud?

Took some time for me to know, yea you know it’s true. There was nothing else that you could do.

It’s in your heart, it will always be there, and it only hurts when you truly care.

I lost my way, but I didn’t lose touch, but you know it means so much if I made you proud.

EIGHTY EIGHT KEYS

I like to live a simple life. I try my best to keep it that way.

Everything’s at my fingertips. Like when I sit at my piano and play.

This world I’ve designed . It ain’t much, but it’s all mine.

There’s highs and lows, but eighty eight keys is all it goes.

Eighty Eight Keys that’s my universe. Eighty Eight Keys for better or worse.

If I keep things in tune I can control them with ease. I’ll never stray from my Eighty Eight Keys.

Everybody’s taking chances. Heading out on their own.

Me I’m stable, I’m on steady ground. Where people tend to leave me alone.

So it’s a safe place. Just treble and bass.

Cause don’t you know, that Eighty Eight keys is all it goes.

Eighty Eight Keys that’s my universe. Eighty Eight Keys for better or worse.

If I keep things in tune I can control them with ease. I’ll never stray from my Eighty Eight Keys.

And though there are things I’ll never know.

There ain’t no limit to where I can go.

Country, Folk or Rock. R &B or Pop.

All I really need to set me free. Is my Eighty Eight keys.

Country, Folk or Rock, Jazz or Blues or Bach.

All I really need to set me free. Is my Eighty Eight keys.

GET ME TO FRIDAY

Get me to Friday, Get me to Friday,

Get me to Friday. When I’ll be coming on home to you.

It’s been a long hard week it’s only half way through.

And I’m running on empty, don’t know what to do.

I been going through the motions watching time tick by.

How I made it this far only heaven knows why.

And there’s only one thing that I keep thinking about, is getting home to you on a Friday Night.

And there’s only one thing where they’ll be now doubt, when I’m in your arms it will be alright.

On Friday, Get me to Friday,

Get me to Friday. When I’ll be coming on home to you.

I got no money in my pocket and bills to pay.

And it doesn’t really matter how I got this way.

Cause a pay check’s coming at the end of the week.

And it’ll be okay by the time we meet.

Sitting at my desk drifting off into space, wishing I was at some other place.

Watching the clock, counting the days, til I’m back, back in your arms on Friday.

It’s been a long hard year it’s only half way through.

NEVER WANT TO LEAVE

I never want to leave this place want to stay here with you.

Never going back, ain’t changing my mind.

Never want to leave this place want to stay here forever.

I just want to leave my troubles behind.

The constant reminders are growing old. There’s too much pressure It’s about to explode.

Something’s got to give, something’s gonna break. There’s not much more we can take.

And that’s how I wound up here.  Where my mind is clear.  And it’s why.

I never want to leave this place want to stay here with you.

Never going back, ain’t changing my mind.

Never want to leave this place want to stay here forever.

I just want to leave my troubles behind.

Don’t matter if it’s fair or if it’s unjust. Or if it’s the choice we make. Or it’s chosen for us.

Something’s got to give. Something’s gonna break. There’s too much stress and heartache.

And that’s how I wound up here.  Where my mind is clear.  And it’s why.

I never want to leave this place want to stay here with you.

Never going back, ain’t changing my mind.

Never want to leave this place want to stay here forever.

I just want to leave my troubles behind.

OUT RUN THE RAIN

Everything is gonna be okay, the way it used to be.

When the only thing I worried about, was what was on T.V.

Now things have changed in so many ways, too much grief and pain.

But the sun is gonna shine again. When I Out Run the Rain.

Out Run the Rain, that’s what I’m gonna do, and I don’t care where I’m headed to.

It’s gonna be okay, ain’t gonna complain, cause the sun will shine, when I Out Run the Rain.

I’m no different than nobody else, but this has gone on too long.

Makes me think back to younger days when I could do no wrong.

But that was then and this is now, and still the darkness remains.

Until I put my foot to the pedal and Out Run the Rain.

Out Run the Rain, that’s what I’m gonna do, and I don’t care, where I’m headed to.

It’s gonna be okay, ain’t gonna complain, cause the sun will shine, when I Out Run the Rain.

When I look out the window, there’s a cloud over head.

I won’t let it cast a shadow on me I’ll look for blue skies instead.

And it won’t matter how I get there, Car, bus or train.

Just as long as I’m on my way, to Out Run the Rain.

Out Run the Rain, that’s what I’m gonna do, and I don’t care, where I’m headed to.

It’s gonna be okay, ain’t gonna complain, cause the sun will shine, when I Out Run the Rain.

RUN AWAY AND HIDE

They call my name.  I look around but there’s no one in sight.

They’re playing a game. But I ain’t in the mood tonight.

Tonight, I know just what to do, gonna free my troubled mind, gonna leave this all behind.

Paying the Bills. They ain’t  never  gonna  stop.

Like climbing a hill. And you can never reach the top.

But now, I know just what to do, gonna get in my car and ride,  gonna  run away and hide.

Run Away and Hide, Run Away and Hide, Run Away and Hide, Leave it all behind.

They call on the phone.  The ringing’s never gonna stop.

I just want to be alone. Cause I feel I’m about to drop.

But now, I know just what to do, gonna get in my car and ride,  gonna  run away and hide.

Run Away and Hide, Run Away and Hide, Run Away and Hide, Leave it all behind.

On the Beach, or in the deep dark woods.  If I’m out of reach, you know I feel as I should.

When I run away, When I run away. Think I’ll run away. Today.

Run Away and Hide, Run Away and hide.  Run Away and Hide,   Run Away and Hide.

TRY AGAIN

Won’t you come walk with me.  The view outside is such a sight to see.

And the clouds have gone away. So won’t you walk with me today.

The ships arrived, get on board. No need to worry about it anymore.

The water’s calm there’s no surprise.  And pretty soon you’ll realize.

The time has come to try again. Try, try, try, try again.

The door is open come on in. Try, try, try, try again.

Won’t you come dance with me. Those dark days are just a memory.

And the timing feels so right. So won’t you dance with me tonight.

The time has come to try again. Try, try, try, try again.

The door is open come on in. Try, try, try, try again.

There’s no reason to hold on tight.  Everything will be alright.

There’s no one here to see.  And you can be yourself with me.

Try, try, try, try again. You can take a walk with me. Try, try, try, try again. You can always dance with me.

The door is open come on in.  Try, try, try, try again.

WHEN LIFE GETS IN THE WAY

When he was young he dreamed like we do.

When they called, that was all that he knew.

But the Fire still burned in his heart.

Only time will tell If it’s too late to Start.

When things don’t go as you planned.

Though you try the best you can.

That’s just life getting in your way you know it, life gets in your way.

And there’s nothing left to say.

Did you know he could draw.

Did you know he could play that guitar.

To you he was just someone you adore.

Don’t you know he’s so much more.

When things don’t go as you planned.

Though you try the best you can.

That’s just life getting in your way you know it, life gets in your way.

And there’s nothing left to say.

They say there’s a reason for everything.

They tell you things will be okay.

But one must wonder, what might have been.

Had life not gotten in the way.

Don’t you know he’s so much more.

When things don’t go as you planned.

Though you try the best you can.

That’s just life getting in your way you know it, life gets in your way.

And there’s nothing left to say.
